The five borough-based Integrated Service Centers provide administrative services to schools such as payroll, budget, personnel, transportation, food services, grant management and technology. They also handle student suspensions, health and safety issues, and some special education questions. The Committees on Special Education report to the ISCs.
Although these centers mainly exist as resources for principals and school personnel, parents may find the ISC helpful in some instances. For example, the parent of a frequently late or truant child who has not received adequate support from the school may try calling the person assigned to attendance issues in the ISC, known as the "attendance content expert" for additional advice and support.
