Our Insights

The Bea Fuller Rodgers, also called IS 528, is a tiny middle school dedicated to the arts opened in Washington Heights in 2002. Children have lessons in dance and visual arts during the day as well as after school instruction with Alvin Ailey, according to the Comprehensive Education Plan (CEP).

Nearly all the students are Latino and many are still learning English. The school offers dual-language instruction designed to make students fluent in English and Spanish.

“Our school is housed in a well-kept building where pride in the school's accomplishments is evident in the prominently displayed student work,” the CEP says.

Admissions: Neighborhood school also admits children from anywhere in Manhattan.
