What’s Special

Four year Drama program

The Downside

Poor Attendance

At this small school, housed in the Evander Childs Campus, students take part in a drama program all four years of high school, which may be incorporated with their English and history classes. The school has partnerships with Epic Theatre Ensemble, DC-TV and Community Word Project to support student artists.

Students may take part in a film-making program, learning how to use film equipment, or iMovie and other film editing software in class. Each classroom is equipped with Apple computers or tablets to integrate technology in all subject areas.

Students have good interactions with their teachers and generally feel safe, according to the NYC School Survey results. However, most students enter with weak academic skills and attendance is very low.

Students may take part in the many sports teams on the Evander Childs campus, and share facilities like the library, gym and cafeteria with other schools in the building. (Melanie Quiroz, November 2018, web reports and DOE data)
