The Downside

Very low enrollment

PS 25 Eubie Blake School will remain open for at least one more year after parents filed a lawsuit against the DOE to keep the school open, Chalkbeat reported. The city had proposed closing the school at the end of June 2018 because of a dramatic decline in enrollment, not low achievement. Though the number of students tested is low, overall, PS 25 students outperform the district-wide average on state exams, and also outperform other schools that serve demographically similar populations.

To support student learning and activites, PS 25 has established partnerships with a variety of organizations, such as Activity Works, Learning Leaders, Gift of Sight, Hip Hop Public Health, Shape up New York, Urban Dov and the Men's Lions Club, according to the school's most recent Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP).

Also, PS 25 has ample technology to ensure that each student has his or her own laptop, according to the CEP. Each classroom has multiple iPads and Kindle e-readers. A computer lab is filled with desktop computers. (Laura Zingmond, via web reports, July 2018)
