P.S. 332 Charles H. Houston

PS 332 closed in June 2014 after years of poor performance. In September 2011, a new zoned elementary school, PS 401 the Christopher Avenue Community School  opened in the building serving the same area as PS 332.

In 2010, only 25% of PS 332 students were on grade level in English language arts (ELA), and only 21% were on grade level in math. Parents expressed concerns about a lack of communication between the school and families, high levels of staff and student absenteeism and students feeling unsafe at school. In February 2011 the Panel for Education Policy approved the DOE's proposal to phase out and replace the school due to persistently low performance and an inability to be transformed.
